Justin Bieber won four awards at this year's American Music Awards: Pop/Rock Favorite Male Artist, Pop/Rock Favorite Album, T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and the biggest title of the night, Artist of the Year.

Bieber is a 16 year-old boy from Canada who was discovered on YouTube in 2008. He was then introduced to R&B artist and winner of the Soul/Rhythm and Blues Favorite Male Artist Usher, who made him famous. He's also Auto-Tuned as hell; as it was called in a Time Magazine article, "Auto-Tune: Why Pop Music Sounds Perfect," the "Photoshop for the human voice."

Bieber is a kid singing lyrics into a microphone that sings for him, to songs that aren't even written by him. But Bieber winning four awards wasn't even the saddest part of the night. Winner of Country Music Favorite Female Artist, Taylor Swift's performance of "Back to December" off her newly released album "Speak," was a very sad, flat song that turned into Rock Band One Republic's 2007 hit song, "Apologize."

We live in a world of so many musically talented people. It's people like these who are recognized for it even though we still have soulful voices like Shakira, who won Latin Music favorite artist, or Pop/R&B legend Christina Aguilera, producing hit after hit. Still, Bieber's awards show a little something about the priorities of today's pop culture.

Want to see an amazing performance? Go see Aguilera's newest movie "Burlesque" that was released on Nov. 24. Only receiving a 32 percent on rottentomotos.com for it's "Campy and Cliché," plot, the movie really emphasizes what an amazing singer that girl is. Aguilera is 29, a mother of one and soon to be divorced, but she's still got those lungs. Even Cher busted out a couple of songs and she's 64.

It's a sad era in the timeline of music. Auto-Tune has taken the music scene by storm, creating catchy music but losing the actual talent. Artists like Bieber and Ke$ha (How do you pronounce the dollar sign), are getting constant radio play despite their minimal musical talent. Behind all the electro-pop, crazy makeup and meat dresses of Lady Gaga, winner of Pop/Rock Favorite Female Artist; there's an incredibly talented musician. Don't believe me? YouTube the Stefani Germanotta Band, you'll see what I mean.

Good for Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift on winning their awards. Soon, however, they will be old news and the music industry will be on to bigger and better things - One of them, we hope, being true singing ability. Bieber may have won Artist of the Year, but he will soon slip into the background just like his precessors Aaron Carter or Billy Gilman.

You remember them, right?

What I find hilarious is that the picture of Billy isn't even from 2000...it's from 2005.

Anyway, the article itself poses some good points about the music industry, and I think that is part of what is frustrating Billy. He is one of the few truly honest artists left who wants to do things the right way in order to achieve his success. It is very frustrating to watch people like Justin Bieber get recognized when they're talent is displayed more through the use of technology than through real, raw talent.

it is really frustrating that all the "singers" now cant even sing. if it wasnt for machines they would still be a nobody workin a 9-5 like the rest of us. then there are TRUE singers like billy that dont get all the credit they deserve! billy is one the the few true talents out there and deserves to be recognized for it..
